2022
Case study

Arctic Monkeys

When I got the opportunity to work on official merchandise for The Car, Arctic Monkeys' much-anticipated 2022 album, and their tour, I knew the visuals had to reflect the same kind of controlled cool and cinematic elegance that ran through the record. This wasn’t about flashy graphics or over-designed merch — it was about designing with restraint, poetry, and atmosphere. The band had shifted gears sonically, and visually, the goal was to match that evolution.

Mood Over Message

Instead of literal interpretations of lyrics or album visuals, I focused on atmosphere. The designs took shape through custom typography, subtle layering, and stark compositional choices. I wanted each piece to feel like a keepsake from a place you couldn’t quite remember visiting. The kind of shirt that grows on you over time
— like the B-sides you only start to love a year after the tour.

The collection dropped via Arctic Monkeys’ official store alongside The Car album release.

What Stays With Me

This project reminded me that design doesn’t always need to shout. Sometimes, the best work is the quietest — the kind that blends into someone’s world and becomes part of their everyday. Collaborating on this collection let me tap into a different kind of visual language: more suggestive than explanatory, more cinematic than commercial. And that’s a lane I love to be in.
